Alumnus Returns for Wrong Reunion
Thought 2004 was 2005
by Mike Schott
1980 Portville Central School Alumnus Tim Russell returned to town for the big reunion festivities, only
to discover that it was not 2005 - the year when his class will celebrate its 25th year out of high school.
"Time flies so fast when you get older," Tim admitted. "I really forgot that it was still 2004.
When Rob Pockalny called a few weeks ago and asked if I was going to the reunion, I got it in my head that it must be 2005.
Obviously, he was referring to the class of 79 reunion, but I was too busy at the time to realize what year we were in."
Fortunately for Tim and his partner Sheryl, there were plenty of other folks from his class (and other classes)
at all the weekend parties.
"I was able to save face and blend in well once I realized what was going on," noted the former battleball
and dodgeball star. "But not until after I had asked Rob when our class picture was to be taken at the Friday night
Legion gathering. Thankfully, he reoriented me using a current calendar, a special GPS device, and a wicked pink-belly...before
I made too much of a fool of myself."
