Portville's Panthers ready for an electric 2006 campaign

Aug. 28, 2006 blog entry:
The new version of the PCS high school football team appears to be well-prepared for a successful
season. The student-athletes have been working hard...and all the boys are getting bigger, faster, and stronger.
After last year's 5-4 record and a playoff win against Pine Valley, the young 2006 squad
is determined to get to Ralph Wilson Stadium on Week 10.
Mother Hawbaker and I (including all our offspring) are excited about these boys' chances,
especially if they remain healthy. Sparking the charge are several players, including senior co-captain Mike Buchanan
(at 6'2", 230 lbs.), who will be leading at both sides of the line.
Junior co-captains Brandon Yarnes and Jeremy Reynolds are primed for running back and linebacker
duties. All three captains are happy, likeable, clean, and stronger than @#$!. I know.
I have been extremely impressed with how strong and fast the other players are as well...especially
dudes like Garrett Childs, Andy Laborde, Zach Shaw and Luke Hellwig, who have both elements rolling.
I've been able to make a few practices, and I'm counting 8 seniors, 6 juniors, 13 sophomores,
16 frosh, and 2 eighth graders playing for 6-plus coaches.

Out.
