Kyle Witherell was selected to play in the Big 30 game.
The Alumni team had its first practice with full pads tonight.
The 6th annual Moke Jaekle Golf Tourney is set for July 10 in the AM at the Haskell course.
Moke started at center and LB for the Panthers in '77 and '78...and played in the Big 30 game. It's a fun time that
raises money for the varsity team. Check out the page at: http://www.pcs1979.com/id24.html

Matt Derx, Scott Forrest, and Alex Green have been selected for the Big 30 Game in
August, when NY plays Pennsy.
The new computer video system for the high school program is being constructed.
Pinnacle Testing is being done on the 1978 season.
Scott Forrest and Brian Mooney are looking at Alfred's football program.
Assistant football coach Sutter is now the boys' track coach.
Coach Larry Welty's wife, Inga, recently had twins.
Milne and Kayes are going to Kentucky to check out some horses.
Matt Derx will soon try his hand at the big screen.
Adam Hellwig is playing Spring Football at Albany.
Chet Holcomb and Jake Haught play for Brockport's team.
William Kamery was a Hobart gridiron man for the past 4 years.
The competitive atmosphere for the alumni game is rising.
Portville practices in May will be in full pads.
The NFL-like rosters (in terms of age) for this game should excite the fans.

Even though the Super Bowl's over and it's the dead of winter, football continues
to be a hot topic in these parts.
Scott Forrest won the MVP award at the Portville Football Club
banquet. Alex Green was the top lineman, Kyle Witherell won the Unsung hero award, and Matt Derx
took the Teuscher Sportsmanship plaque. Jason Mooney was in the running for 3 of them, so we have to give him
his props. All of the seniors received a plaque and a copy of the Highlight Video. What a great season!
Buzz about the Alumni Game is escalating around town, especially since
55 players have signed up. I've had many folks in and outside of town asking about the game. Interest
is running high. The web pages on the game get about 20 visitors a day, and dudes are getting in shape, but maybe
not fast enough.
There is a difference between being in shape and being in football shape.
Cardiovascular workouts, strength training, and flexibility sessions are the three cornerstones of the fitness
triangle. Unfortunately, working your ass off 40-50 hours a week at the Tile Plant is not enough, so we gotta
dig deep now.
Fielding 35 guys who are well-conditioned will be an absolute key in a game like this
with a bunch of older guys. It's time to crank up the participation in Sunday football and Monday hoops to cover
the three fitness foundations...and workout throughout the week as well.
I was over to Big Jim Hawbaker's Huntin Lodge yesterday, and he had this
to say...
"I drive over to Salamanca every Friday to get gas for the pickup. At a buck fifty-five, I
can run her all week. And every time I ride into Warrior Country...I can feel it in the air. I sure hope the Panthers
are ready for this battle. I'd advise ever one of the players to watch that Gladiator picture show that came out a couple
years back."
