In 1976, a 2-1 Portville team visited a 4-0 Otto-Eldred squad for another classic
Border Conference match-up.
After stuffing the potent Terror offense in their initial series, the Panthers
followed up with a touchdown on their first play from scrimmage - an automatic pass from Jerry Holcomb to Ray Auman.
Excitement on the Portville bench quickly disappeared, as O-E responded with
9 unanswered TDs and 65 points.
The Terror attack was led by Big 30 All-Stars #24 Ed Crandall, #22 QB Jeff Miller,
and WR Steve Bell, who is now the Head Statistician with Portville.
Ironically, Otto finished at 8-1, but lost the league championship to Bradford
Central Christian (8-1), whose only loss came at the hands of Portville, 34-28, when Holcomb and Auman teamed up for 4
TD passes.
