The Portville-Allegany Football rivalry that began in 1930
had its last contest in 2004...75 consecutive years. The Panthers lead the series: 48
- 27 - 2.
The two towns have agreed to play each other in an Alumni Football Charity Contest...Full-Pads...2006
in Portville and 2007 in Allegany.
This will be the 3rd year of Alumni Football for Portville, while the Gators are newcomers to the
special event. Proceeds will be going to various groups.
Interestingly, the biggest victory for the PCS Varsity Panthers came in 1978 (53-0), while the old
Blue Devils won 45-0 in 1987. Back in the 60s and 70s, fights regularly broke out among the players and fans, so this
should be a tough match-up between these rival communities.
